Reiki
In the late 1800's, Dr MikaoUsui, a Japanese man, rediscovered Reiki during his studies in Tibet. In the 1970's Mrs HawayoTakata brought it to the West and since then, it has expanded worldwide.

Reiki is non-denominational. It is not a religion. It is used solely to bring harmony and balance to oneself and others. The Reiki practitioner is only a channel for the energy healing process to occur. Reiki cannot do harm, as it is guided by the Divine-consciousness.
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is composed of two Japanese words: Rei and Ki. The name and symbols are from the Japanese alphabet, Kanji.

Rei
Rei, the top symbol means "Universal energy of the Divine Mind"
It is Ray I, the will of Divine mind of the Master Creator. It is the supernatural knowledge of highest Spiritual consciousness. It is the all knowing God-consciousness, the King's Mind, the Universal Mind Energy; for us it means source of Unconditional Love with Wisdom and Life.
Ki
Ki, the bottom symbol is the vital life force or breath of life. It is the pure light of Universal Energy which generates life. All cultures have a name for it. Chi in Chinese, Prana in Sanskrit, Mana in Hawaiian, Light, Bio-plasma, Orgone, etc... It is the 'nonphysical" energy that animates all living things.

The Chi is the life force within all that is alive. It departs upon death. With high Chi you have more energy; with low Chi you are more vulnerable to illness. Chi supports the energy of your entire being; physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. When you control your Chi, you bring greater personal power and awareness into your life. Control of your Chi can be developed through reading, mind-thought control, meditation, breathing and stretching exercises, martial arts, and healing.

Reiki is spiritually guided life force energy. Reiki is the Rei - God-consciousness, that guides Ki - the life force. It is the wisdom of the Divine, being responsible for the healing.

When placing the hands on the body, the energy is automatically drawn to any imbalances, assisting in the healing process of these areas. One need not know the anatomy or physiology involved, since it is drawn to the problem without our personal involvement.

Reiki is acquired through a series of energy attunements. The attunements or "initiation process" involves an ancient method of tuning the physical and etheric bodies to a special link to the universal energy so that the practitioners' energy does not interfere. The attunement process 'opens' the crown, heart, and palm charkas creating a special link between the student and the Reiki source. The ability to Reiki is linked to the student by a Reiki Master through the attunement process. The process is guided by the God-consciousness and is attended by Reiki guides and other spiritual beings who help implement the process. During the tuning "many report having mystical experiences involving personal messages, healings, visions and past life experiences," quotes Bill Hauw, Reiki Master.

Anyone can do Reiki once they have been attuned. Our healing power is natural and God given. The Reiki attunement process amplifies the healing powers, by effectively increasing the vibratory level of healing energy through the practitioner. The Reiki practitioner becomes a channel for direct access to stronger Chi for transmitting healing.

The attunement can increase psychic sensitivity, increase intuitive awareness, and other psychic abilities, open the third eye, raised the level of consciousness, create clarity of mind, personal healing and increased energy. Once you are attuned to Reiki you have it forever. It has been found that the more Reiki is practiced the greater the effective "healing power" is from the practitioner.

You can receive Reiki from a practitioner, or be attuned for self healing by a Reiki Master. You can also give Reiki to others so that they can receive the divine energy of Reiki through your love and good intentions for a better balanced and harmonious body.
